Workshop “German SIAM Student Chapters meet Algorithmic Optimization”

The workshop “German SIAM Student Chapters Meet Algorithmic Optimization”, jointly organized by the SIAM Student Chapter Trier and the Research Training Group on Algorithmic Optimization (ALOP) at Trier University, was a great success. The event was particularly part of the series of Symposia of the German SIAM Student Chapters, making its 6th edition. While its primary focus was on the members of the German SIAM Student Chapters, the workshop warmly welcomed many other interested individuals so that the event brought together more than 40 people from across Germany, Luxembourg, and the UK. The three days were packed with interesting talks by our four plenary speakers as well as early career researchers, covering various aspects of mathematical optimization and applied mathematics such as optimal control of partial differential equations, uncertainty quantification, and much more.

The poster session, ice breaker game, and open discussions were very well received and stimulated a lively exchange among the participants.
